This year marks the 38th year of Earth Day, a celebration to help awareness of the need to save our valuable resources and to cut greenhouse gases.

The folks at Earth Day are recommending many things including replacing your incandescent light bulbs with compact flourescent bulbs. These bulbs take less energy, produce less heat and last much longer.

Refilling rather than replacing a printer's toner cartridge saves approximately 3 1/2 quarts of oil.

Toner cartridges are manufactured with plastic. To make plastic takes oil. In the case of a toner cartridge, it takes 3 1/2 quarts of oil to make each new toner cartridge.

1,130,756 quarts of oil in 1 quart containers placed top to bottom would stretch over 141 miles (almost the distance across the widest part of Florida from east to west).
