One simple way to keep your home, office and life free of clutter is to give away items that are not used. Get rid of anything that causes stress, annoys you, tires you out or creates unfavorable memories. Give items to a friend who would love them. Sell items on eBay. Donate unwanted items to a favorite charity (and, take a possible tax deduction). Your workspace and desk should be free of piles of papers, cluttered drawers and too many decorative items. Experts recommend starting with a clean, uncluttered desk. Take out only the papers or books needed for the specific project you are working on. Keep project papers and items in labeled folders and off the top of your desk unless you are working on that specific project. After each project, put the current project files away and take out the next project’s files. Ideally, you’ll have a small area for the current files so you can quickly grab those files without having to get up. If you have a home office, it’s even more important to keep your office and desk uncluttered. Clutter has a way of being contagious and traveling out to other areas of your home. Keep your office, home and your mind as free of clutter as possible. Set a time each day to clear off your desk before leaving work. In just a few minutes, you’ll be able to put things away and be more prepared for the following day. When you start work the next day, a clean and uncluttered workspace will help alleviate stress.
