What the heck is a CartChip?
The newest machines (this one included) utilize an EEPROM chip that literally governs how long the cartridge will last and other aspects of cartridge usage.  These chips are programmed to give you a particular number of printed pages.  But, those pre-determined "pages" aren't really a good indicator of how much toner you have used, simply a measure of drum revolutions.  In many cases, you will find the toner cartridge still has 20 - 30% (or more!) of its toner remaining in the hopper, but has been "turned off" thanks to that chip.

We realized that refilling the hopper on these cartridges with our premium graphics toner did nothing to bring the cartridge back to life, without replacing the CartChip on the outside of the cartridge (here's a picture of the little beast).  As if that wasn't a big enough problem, we also found that these chips were programmed with information about the machine they "belonged in".

What does "belonged in" mean?  As has been the practice for over a decade, this "engine" (made by a joint venture between Fuji and Xerox) is used in a wide variety of machines with nameplates ranging from Compaq to Xerox.  While the "guts" and the cartridge used in these printers are exactly the same, these chips force you to use a Xerox cartridge in a Xerox printer and a Compaq cartridge in a Compaq printer and "never the twain shall meet!".  (In the old days, you could buy a cheaper nameplate (for example a Wang cartridge) and use it in a more "upscale" machine (an Apple, for example) and save yourself a ton of money.

Our CartChip is manufactured by a company that knows without their $.50 chip, our toner will never bring your cartridge back to life.  So, they charge us $17.83 for their $.50 chip and we pay it, so in spite of the fact you are forced to buy their overpriced chip to use in conjunction with our ReChargX 051 we can bring you a perfect $70 - $90 alternative (depending on the quantity of our ReChargX kits you buy) to your $250 - $350 cartridge.

"When should I order an empty?"

The only time you need to order an empty cartridge is if your present cartridge isn't working properly (other than just printing light due to "toner low") or if you want to have spares on hand when your present cartridge finally "poops out" (usually  2 - 4 refills after it initially runs out of toner).

There's no reason to order one of our EmptyX cartridges if the cartridge you have in your printer was working fine before it went "toner low" - simply order a ReChargX kit and refill the empty you already have!  If, on the other hand, the cartridge you are currently using is exhibiting print defects (evidenced by random dots, lines, voids, splotches, etc.) not normally associated with going low on toner, then an EmptyX cartridge is just what you need to replace your defective cartridge (remember, the EmptyX cartridge is the empty cartridge only, and must be used in conjunction with a ReChargX kit).

When your current empty cartridge finally wears out, an EmptyX cartridge used in conjunction with one of our ReChargX kits, will give you a fully functioning, working cartridge that can be refilled again, in the future, and the combination of an EmptyX and a ReChargX kit costs far, far less than buying a brand new or remanufactured cartridge.
