2. “Cartridge… You’re Fired!”
Beware of “ Cartridge Killer Chips”

Mom never bought something because someone told her she had to, she bought what she wanted, where she wanted and when she wanted.

She is appalled at the thought of “Cartridge killer chips”. What are they you ask? Philosophically, they are anti-consumer, anti-competition, anti-choice, anti-environment devices placed on the outside of a toner cartridge by some of the largest manufacturers in the world.

Technologically, they are devices programmed to stop your printer from printing after a specified number of pages. Once that number is reached, the toner cartridge becomes “dead” and reports to the printer that you need to replace it. (Mom’s getting mad just thinking about this!)

The manufacturers claim these chips HELP the functionality of the machine. The only thing these chips do is allow the manufacturers to help themselves to a giant wad of your money.

Mom Says, "Cartridge Killer Chips
are Bad for You"

Their real job is to force you to only buy their supplies, when they say you should and to eliminate the availability of less expensive alternatives.

Can you imagine the furor that would occur if major auto manufacturers were allowed to use a chip that completely shuts off your car if some sensor detected you had the audacity to use a Quick Change Oil Service instead of paying full price for their oil change service?

Don’t think that could happen? It is in happening in the printer marketplace and happening with increasing regularity.

To see if a machine requires a killer chip, look up the model in our cross reference lists on our website. On the ReChargX product page, you’ll see a chip listed if that machine requires one.

The good news? We have replacement chips for many, many machines. The bad news? If you choose a machine that has a chip and we don’t have a replacement all the new toner in the world won’t bring that cartridge back to live.

Bottom line? Mom says, “Do your homework and check for chips! (or you’re grounded!)”
